Franconia Minerals Corporation is focused on exploring and developing platinum group metals and base metals in the continental United States. Franconia's principal project is its advanced-stage Birch Lake platinum-palladium-copper-nickel exploration project in the Duluth Complex in northeastern Minnesota, including two identified mineral deposits, Birch Lake and Maturi.

PolyMet Mining Corp. is a publicly traded mine development company that owns 100 percent of the NorthMet copper-nickel-platinum group metal deposit and 100 percent of the Erie Plant, a large processing facility located approximately six miles from the deposit in the established mining district of the Mesabi Iron Range in northeastern Minnesota.
